Video Surveillance
Video monitoring systems are capable of many functions, everything from monitoring the nursery from the kitchen, to monitoring the yard and playroom. These images can be viewed live on any TV or monitor in the home or be recorded 24/7 via multiple cameras to a network enabled DVR (digital video recorder, no tapes) allowing you to view the cameras on any television or PC in the home or over the Internet.
Cameras are available in numerous configurations:
- colour
- black and white
- dome
- bullet
- infrared
- remote controlled pan/zoom and tilt.
A DVR can be configured to only record when motion is detected. This saves on hard drive space, making it very easy to play back video recordings from a certain time frame and only see video from the time someone was in the area. There is no longer a need to fast forward a tape looking for movement and then stopping the tape to play and see what actually happened. A DVR also eliminates the constant changing of tapes. Simply configure it to automatically record over the oldest recordings. This could allow you to always have the most recent video files for review, eliminating maintenance of any kind.
Example Applications:
- Monitor the baby in the nursery from a dedicated monitor in the kitchen. Take this one step further and allow the camera to be viewed on any TV or PC in the house.
- Add a camera to the front door so you can see visitors on a monitor or TV in the house.
- Add cameras outside so you can watch your children as they play in the yard.
- Install cameras to protect your property. Connect them to a DVR for 24/7 recording with no tapes to change. Get paged, called, or emailed when motion is detected by any camera. Log into the system from a remote location and view live and recorded video.
- If you are a disabled parent with active children, cameras installed in the right places enable you to keep an eye on them without following them. In addition, a monitor can even be installed on a wheelchair so you can see them from wherever you are.
